As a leading Stop Loss company, we see firsthand the debilitating effects of catastrophic medical conditions. To make a meaningful, positive impact, HM Insurance Group (HM) provides financial support, hours of volunteerism and a commitment to corporate responsibility in communities where we do business, aiming to create healthier people and, ultimately, healthier communities. In 2023, HM directed $234,000 to more than 51 different organizations across the nation.
Significant backing is given to organizations that are working to improve conditions that result in catastrophic medical expenses — organizations that support research, provide patient advocacy and build awareness. Through HM’s Charity Choice Grant Program, all employees are eligible to request a charitable donation of up to $500 from HM to support an organization of their choice that addresses a community, educational, health or human services need.
Our employees are not only passionate and committed to their jobs at HM, they also go above and beyond by supporting community programs. All employees receive one Volunteer Day to take each year, and many use the day with co-workers for a team-building activity that gives back to the community. For example, for the past several years, a cross-functional group of HM employees has helped set up the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk in Pittsburgh. A few other highlights include participating in the Salvation Army’s holiday program to help make the holidays brighter for those in need; volunteering time to help at food banks; and creating care packages for cancer patients.
