Craig Phillips serves as vice president, Underwriting, for HM Insurance Group (HM). In this role, he is responsible for leading the underwriting efforts for expanding HM’s level funded business nationally. As part of this effort, Craig is the executive director of AST Risk, LLC, which is an MGU (partially owned by HM Insurance Group) that specializes in small group level funded business.
With more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry, Craig’s areas of expertise include stop loss, financial risk, health insurance, property & casualty insurance and risk management.
Craig joined HM in February 2020 from Navigators Re, where he served as senior vice president of underwriting and managed their stop loss program business written on an insurance and reinsurance basis. Prior to that, he spent 24 years at Medical Risk Managers (MRM) in South Windsor, Connecticut, where he held roles of increasing responsibility and became senior vice president of underwriting in 2017.
He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Connecticut State University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Connecticut School of Business.
